eSafety activities presented at “Future road transport – safe and clean”

The aim of the event in Gothenburg, Sweden 26-27 October 2009 was to discuss how we make road transport safer and more environmentally-friendly by increasing the use of both new and established technologies. This high-level meeting brought together decision-makers from the European Parliament, the European Commission, EU Member States and industry. The programme also offered participants the opportunity to test several new technological solutions.

During the second day of the conference participants tested sustainable technical solutions at an exhibition in the Göteborg harbour. The demonstration of Co-operative System showed applications based on vehicle to vehicle and vehicle to infrastructure communication to help avoid traffic accidents.

The participants had the opportunity to learn more about, and to test, a diversity of applications - from electric bicycles and advanced eco-driving in simulators to a Hybrid bus and a Swedish racing champion running on biofuel.
