Electronic Stability Control and Blind Spot Monitoring were two of seven life-saving eSafety technologies tested by Polish rally champions Tomasz Kuchar and Jan Chmielewski at Warsaw City Council on the first of October 2011.

The drivers were taking part in the latest eSafety Challenge which was hosted by the Polish Motorcycle and Automobile Federation (PZM), with the support of the City of Warsaw. Apart from them, Polish NBA Basketball player Marcin Gortat joined the campaign backing thus the promotion of these eSafety technologies.

Formula One Polish driver, Robert Kubica, supported the Polish eSafety event with a statement letter where he said “serious crashes can happen at any time, and when we do have accidents we need all the help we can get – that is why we should always wear seatbelts. But the new advanced technologies you will see demonstrated today are equally as important because they can help avoid accidents from happening in the first place”.

A full crowd turned out to witness the impressive demonstrations first-hand. With Poland having recently taken on the Presidency of the European Union, prominent politicians and decision makers were in attendance, Boguslaw Liberadzki - a Member of the European Parliament, and Beata Bublewicz - President of the Polish Road Safety Council and Member of Parliament.

“It is great that members of the public were so keen to show up in such large numbers to witness the life-saving potential of eSafety technologies. We need the support of everyone, from top decision-makers down to individual road users to secure the deployment of eSafety technologies” said Jacob Bangsgaard, Secretary General of eSafetyAware and Director General of FIA Region I.

The demonstrations held during the event included: Electronic Stability Control (ESC); Blind Spot Monitoring; Lane Support Systems; Speed Alert; Adaptive Headlights; eCall; Motorcycle Anti-lock Braking Systems (ABS).
